Background: FGF21 is a critical metabolic regulator with beneficial effects on lipid and glucose metabolism. FGF21 is produced primarily by the liver and stimulates fatty acids oxidation, which prevents hepatic triglycerides accumulation and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NALFD).
